Great Construction
The Japan Kannon Church and the
Movement to Transform the World into Paradise
The greatest goal of the Japan Kannon Church, that of a world free of disease, poverty, and conflict, is none other than the transformation of the whole world into paradise. This transformation starts with transforming the individual into a state of paradise; next, the family; then, the nation; and the finally, the whole world will be transformed as one into the state of paradise. This very transformation is the ideal of all religions that has yet to be accomplished.
When is observed this world of endurance, there appear so many aspects of hell, and the conditions are such that one cannot but cover the eyes. Indeed it can be called darkness itself. There is probably no place without evil. To combat this, statesmen, educators, and individuals involved in religion all endeavor, but the evils in society simply do not decrease, rather they show the tendency to increase.
As a method to transform this world of endurance, this world that is dark without any light into a paradise, we radiate like a bullet the ideogram “light” that has been written by Master Jikan. The power of this ideogram “light” dissolves the darkness. It is natural that where darkness has been dissolved, paradise results. An outside party would find such a statement totally impossible to believe. Such foolishness is beyond understanding. Not unreasonable is it declared to be nothing but superstition to hear statements like the ideogram for “light” as written by Master Jikan moves as if it were a sentient being. Not unreasonable because our statements are judged according to all past experience. We, however, believe that the last judgment as foretold by Christ is now approaching. This is a prophecy over two thousands years old. Because we are living in times not experienced in these two thousand years, there is still no reason why someone of Christ’s stature should tell a lie. Neither could it be said that something as unprecedented as the last judgment could not happen. In the same sense as this line of reasoning, it is a very special privilege for those who believe the truth that it is possible that the ideogram for “light” could function organically. Thus, we believe absolutely in the actualization of a paradise and continue our efforts toward that goal.
