Great Construction
Cleansing the Insides of the Human Body
The fallacies of contemporary medical science are constant topics in my writing, and that is because it has been established for so long that disease is to be handled by medical doctors and treated with pharmaceuticals that even though our arguments might be acknowledged, due to their mentality most who hear them cannot make the decision to put our principles into practice. So, for those who fit into this category, I hereby set out to explain these principles in the most understandable manner possible.
For such an explanation, the example of a disease easiest to comprehend would probably be that of the common cold. When an individual catches a cold, a fever will break out, followed by symptoms such as coughing, phlegm discharge, sneezing, watery nasal drainage, headaches, and pain in the joints, so immediately a doctor is sought. At this stage, however, there is a problem. Although there are those who do not worry about catching a cold, the common attitude is that if one does not take care of oneself, anything could happen. The anxiousness about ending up in a general hospital enters the mind. Doctor’s orders are followed with the hope that the condition will improve. But, then, there are those who take aspirin, or boil Kudzu Root Soup to drink, or else prepare and drink their own self-made tamagozake (raw egg sakè) or charred mikan peel, or do something else, and then dive into their bedding and sweat profusely until they are red. And then, there are the truly timid ones who do not think they themselves can manage such makeshift measures, worry about what will happen if their condition gets out of hand, that that will be the end, and run to the doctor they always trust. They listen to the various things the doctor has to say, but as this is the medical science that does not understand the cause of the common cold, patients are not relieved of their anxiety because the doctor cannot make a clear explanation. And no wonder. Even doctors at the bottom of their hearts worry that the cold may develop into pneumonia, so they give prescriptions to above all, rest and take good care, which is conspicuous helplessness. Doctors do such because this is all the they can do. Patients are in fear, so all day long they take their temperature which from our perspective is indeed the height of absurdity.
However, as I constantly and consistently stress, there is nothing as satisfactory as a cold. It is the cleansing of the toxin that has accumulated in some part of the human body. Due to fever this toxin dissolves into that such as phlegm, water mucous, and sweat, and if allowed to eliminate to the fullest, the patient will recover, and afterwards, fully refreshed, health will be increased. In other words, because the insides of the body may be cleansed for free, there is nothing so beneficial. To make a comparison, think of a bath as a way to cleanse the body on the outside and a cold as a way to cleanse the body on the insides. In the same way that grime is removed from the skin, the grim from inside the body is removed. Phlegm, nasal mucous, and sweat are all grime. Grime on the skin is easily removed with the hands of the human being, but the grime on the insides is not easily removed, and because nature is beneficit, it sustains the process for removing inside grim through the cold. Truly has God who is the Creator skillfully fashioned nature and the human body. And, colds do take various forms. Thus to allow oneself to catch a cold is a good thing, the best way to maintain health. It is the way created by God to maintain health. Thus, just to understand this principle, relief of more than half of one’s anxiety is natural. Rather, all that has to be done, with no special therapy, is to leave the cold to itself, since the body will recover in good time. My explanation will be understood if the next time the reader catches a cold, my method is tested. As the insides of the body are cleansed, gradually colds are contracted less often. It is indeed intriguing that such a simple principle has not been understood until today. I do not believe there is anything as foolish as the human being. Seeing how immoderately colds are feared, and once having caught one, after money is spent, work, abandoned, and suffering ensues, only to have the condition advance to tuberculosis, I want to say: pitiful one, your name is human being!
And this is not all. There is the problem with medicines, pharmaceuticals. Medical science is that which as previously described misinterprets the internal cleansing process to the contrary and seeks to stop it for which toxic substances called medicines and pharmaceuticals are used. In this world, there is not one thing that could really be called a medicine. If you had to label anything a medicine, it would probably be the rice we eat. Rice is something that human beings cannot do without as long as they are alive, cannot do without even for one day. Therefore, that which is called medicine that is held in such regard is poison. Poisons block the healing process, so there is nothing so erroneous. Why such a mistake was made is that as the pain from the cleansing action is temporarily alleviated, the reaction was mistaken for healing. Medicine is indeed the forbidden fruit.
And, there is another problem of tremendous proportions. That problem is the great amount of the medicinal toxin which is ingested remains in the body. If it is not eliminated from the human body within several years or several decades, it solidifies in various regions throughout the body. After solidification reaches a certain extent, cleansing activity starts. Since this activity is the common cold, what would certainly heal if left on its own is aggravated by the use of medicines that cause complications and if these worsen, can even take life. The foolishness leaves one speechless. Seen in this light, as medicinal toxin is the source of disease, it is certain that if human beings quit the use of medicines and pharmaceuticals and allow themselves to catch colds, they would be in good health throughout the year and enjoy a long life.
It is I who discovered this tremendous error committed by humanity, and since it is also I who teaches the way to eliminate medicinal toxin from the body by Johrei, how great are my projects along with the scale of salvation and the fact that the construction of paradise on earth free of disease, poverty, and conflict is no idle boast will most likely be perceived and understood.Eikō, Issue 147, page A1, March 12, 1952

“Tainai no Nyūyoku,” was published originally on the front page of Eikō, Issue 147, March 12, 1952. This essay was reprinted in the anthology Igaku Kankei Goronbun Shū (Collected Essays on Medical Science) that did enjoy a limited circulation. Igaku Kankei Goronbun Shū contains no publication data, but internal evidence suggests that its compilation stopped several months preceding Meishu-sama’s death. Furthermore, since the book lacks publication data, whether the volume had Meishu-sama’s imprimatur or not is unknown, so details concerning this volume are probably impossible to research. “Tainai no Nyūyoku” has previously appeared in translation.
