Great Construction
“The Nerves”
Medical Science Fragments Twenty-three
For illnesses whose cause they do not understand, doctors often respond to the concerns of their patients by saying that the pain they feel is “in their nerves.” Pondering these statements, I do believe there is nothing more absurd. Even though there may be no “cause,” if a patient feels pain because of nerves, it means that the nerves have become afflicted in some way. Shouldn’t it be the task of medical science to heal diseases of the nerves as well? Whether doctors actually do or do not understand this point, it is quite amazing that they still continue to manufacture such pronouncements. Truly pitiful are modern people who are made to listen to such illogical reasoning, cannot see past it, and lay great stock in what doctors say.
Doctors may not like to hear such things, but because I think it is logical and stands to reason, I have so written.
